First Year Team makes the playoffs
The Wolf Pack who placed a 4th in the AFC North earns its first playoff birth. The Wolf Pack will be facing the undefeated Wolverines at River City High School on May 31. The first time these two teams met was the Wolf Pack’s season opener but both teams are much different now, the Wolf Pack as the “underwolves” plan to upset the 2007 defending champions. We hope that all family and the community come out to cheer on the Wolf Pack to victory.
Kick Off is scheduled at 6:30 pm at River City High School
Wolf Pack ends its Inaugural Season with a regular season record of 4-6
Wolf Pack owner Ed Silva would first like to thank all those who helped make the season a success. There are so many so I apologize if I forgot to state your name. First I would like to congratulate the coaching staff for putting together a team that could compete week in and week out, the countless hours you donated to the team and the organization. Second I would like to thank the management staff making sure that the team ran well at each home game and away game. Thanks to Memo Garcia for doing our video and pictures for the team. Thanks to Diana Hernandez for helping me with various duties and working the gate. Thanks to John for assisting and directing me to build a great organization. Thanks to Douglas Deibel for creating a website and all the extra work he provided for the team and organization. Thanks to Vince and Chris of the Jr.Fury for doing the snack bar for each home game, all funds raised went directly to the youth football team. Thanks to the little guys our water boys, Cory, David and Ryan and all the others who assisted. I would also like to thank all the girlfriends, wives and other family members for helping out with various things that arisen during the season. Thanks to WJUSD for allowing us to play at Lee Middle School, also we would like to thank Ms. Mounce and Mary Jane for working with the Wolf Pack. Thanks to the Jr. Wolves for letting us use their field goal pads. Last but not least thanks to all the 2008 WOLF PACK OFFICIAL TEAM for making a commitment to join the Woodland Wolf Pack organization and for doing your best to make the Wolf Pack a success. Again I would like to thank each one of you for making this a memorable season. Remember this statement because this is what Wolf Pack Football is and its future. The Woodland Wolf Pack is committed to train local and surrounding athletes to become the best they can be, to take them and their talents to the collegiate and pro level. Woodland Wolf Pack is committed as an organization to better the surrounding community by taking our resources and knowledge to improve student athletics and local community activities. We are here to provide the local community with exciting football games, a proud organization and a winning program. To the Wolf Pack organization from it management to it players we have laid the foundation.
Wolf Pack vs Lawmen
The Wolf Pack’s offensive continues to struggle; with 5 key offensive starters out for the season the Pack must find a way to move the ball. The Lawmen entered the den to find a wounded team. The Pack fought hard but it could not answer the aerial attack. Offensive Coordinator Mike Gonzales dug deep but just could not find the winning combination to put the Pack in a scoreing attack. The Pack’s offensive struggled all day, the backs could not find any light or catch a break; “again the officiating was horrible on both sides of the ball and for both teams” says head coach Heath Nunes. There were some highlights; Randy Franks continues to be a dominant force on the defense racking up 2 more sacks. Randy Franks is not only the team’s sack leader but could very well be the league leader.
Wolf Pack wishes a safe return of one of the own
I don't have much info but Issac Martinez was placed on active duty and has sent to serve a 6 month tour of duty in Iraq. His plane left at 6 am for Sacrmento International Airport today. I and the Wolf Pack Family wish Isaac a safe return. Isaac has been an active member of the Wolf Pack this year and has contributed greatly to those on the team, Issac and his family will be in our prayers. See you soon brother.
Well before the season started the staff echoed that it would be long and tiresome. For the first year the pack is riddle with key injuries. The Pack showed up with 24 players, players that did the best they could. The Pack had a chance to tie up the game late in the 4th quarter as Douglas Deibel marched them down to the 10 yard line, 4th and goal to tie the game. Deibel escapes two defenders to throws to the WR who catches the ball but steps out of bounds. The Vipers defense scored a controversial lateral pass in the 3rd quarter that gave them the lead. The second score came from a muffed punt at the 10 yard line. The offense was missing their top 3 receivers, Matt and Chris Bombard and Sammy Andrade to injuries. The shuffled line held its ground that helped block for the shifty Stephan Ceaser who scored on a 45 yard scamper. The defense had some spotlights, Randy Jordan, Dwight Earnest and Ricky Rodriguez made big plays all day. Looking to spark the offense Rodney Lewis punt returner returned a key punt 45 yards to help set the final offense drive. Final score Wolf Pack 14, Vipers 22. For a team that the average age is 21 the team continues to play their hearts out for the team, there is a tremendous upside in the coming seasons. Dictionary is the only place that success comes before work. Hard work is the price we must pay for success. I think you can accomplish anything if you're willing to pay the price.
This Saturday marks the final home game for the Pack inaugural season, kick off is at 12:30 pm. Come out and cheer the on the Wolf Pack's final home stand.
Marin Bulldogs Spoils The Wolf Packs Expansion Team Domination
There is not much to say the Wolf Pack lost to the Bulldogs 14-6. The Wolf Pack played very flat, 2 TD’s were called back but the Pack still should have won but it was not in the cards that day. The highlight is that that the Wolf Pack finished 3-1 against the expansion teams which means the Wolf Pack is the best expansion team.
This week the Wolf Pack travels to Oakland to face the 2-4 Vipers. The Vipers are coming off bye week after the Steelers had to forfeit due to the loss of their field. The Vipers may only have 2 wins but that 1 game more than they had last year. The Wolf Pack must prepared to bounce back as they will face a Viper team that is up and coming.
Next week the Wolf Pack will play its final home game at 12:30 vs the Lawman. The Wolf Pack will featuring a double header, the first game will feature the Wolf Pack vs the Lawman at 12:30 and at 3:30 the Roseville Steelers vs Vacaville Crusaders.
Wolf Pack is Snake Bitten
2007's runner ups in the GCFL Championship game breaks the Wolf Packs 4 game winning streak. The game was a battle for bragging rights for the Wolf Pack to stand alone in 2nd place in the AFC North. Now the Wolf Pack and Rattlers share 2nd place for the time being. The Rattlers showed why they played in the championship game; they have a lot of veteran players that know the game is not over until the final whistle. The Rattlers played very hard and consistent, unlike the Wolf Pack. The Wolf Pack has had some key injuries to some of their top players. Curtis Barfield is out for the season due to a torn chest muscle, Stephon Ceasar is week to week due to a sprained knee, Rodney Earnest is week to week due to a sore knee, Joseph Raviotta sustained a mild concussion, just to name a few. The Wolf Pack, which features a very young team in age and playing experience, still continues to play hard. Kurtis Kohler looks to be a very bright star in the league; each week he continues to get better. It helps when you have at least the same 3 lineman blocking for him, Matt Davis, Justin Liddell and Joseph Raviotta. The defense front did really well as they were led by Randy Franks and Leonard Nelson; Randy Franks left the game late in the 3rd quarter due to a calf strain. Both Randy and Leonard wreaked havoc at the line of scrimmage combing for several sacks. The defense stopped the Rattlers 5 times in the red zone for about two and a half quarters. The Rattlers then went on a passing attack as the Wolf Pack just could not catch a break.
The Rams Enter The Den Only To Find A Hungry Wolf Pack
It was a very warm day; the Rams were excited to play another expansion team and had hopes of defeating the Wolf Pack. The Rams entered the den and came out empty-handed. The 1-3 Rams were hoping to get their second win but the Wolf Pack ended up stealing the show. The Wolf Pack scored 6 times; the Rams’ only score was in the 3rd quarter, the final score Wolf Pack 44 Rams 8. The Wolf Pack defense front held the Rams in check. The Pack was led by Randy Franks, Alan Rohan and Dwight Earnest. The defense played well as a unit today only allowing one score. The Rams played very hard through out the game, never giving up. The Wolf Pack were very please to have played a well coached team and professional players.
This week the Wolf Pack will be heading a double header, the first game will feature the 4-1 Wolf Pack vs. 3-2 Rattlers and the 2nd game will feature the 1-4 Roseville Steelers vs. the 4-1 California Warriors
Manditory Team Meeting
There will be a mandatory meeting this tuesday after practice (15 minutes) and Friday (30 Mins) at 7 pm at round table on Pioneer and Main, each player must attend one of the meeting as this will affect your playing status on Saturday.
Wolf Pack Hold Off Mariners
Saturday’s game was one that was a nail biter to the very end. The Mariners brought their A game but in the end it was the Wolf Pack who prevailed. The final score was Wolf Pack 36 Mariners 30. At the half the score was 22-8, and then the Mariners fought hard and ended up scoring 3 more times in the second half, even taking the lead at one time. The first quarter started with some very intense plays and players even having 2 players form each team being ejected but in the end cooler heads prevailed. Both teams battled all afternoon which made some very good football for the fans. The O-Line anchor by Matt Davis, Justin Liddell, Joseph Raviotta, Alex Ramos, Chris Looney, and filling in for the injured Alex Ramos, Delfino Delgado. The Wolf Pack is starting to show signs of team continuity, the Mariners kept the score close in the second half but the Wolf Pack never looked back as Kurtis Kolher lead the offense for a 75 yard march to make the final winning score with about 1 minute left of play. Saturday’s win not only marks the Wolf Pack first win at home but the team’s third win in a row.
The Wolf Pack will be at home again on April 12th at 2 pm as they face the Central Valley Rams from Stockton
Wolf Pack Player Delfino is a New Proud Father!!!
He was born on March 28, 2008 at 6:55 p.m. 5lbs. 7 oz. 18 1/2 inches long to Delfino and Annie Delgado. His name is Isaac Mario Delgado. Their first child and my (Diana) very first Grandchild. He is home now and doing well, both mom and dad are happy to have him home after 4 days in the hospital. My daughter Annie had a very hard time in delivery, her blood pressure was 153/109 at one time and they were afraid that she could have seizures or possibly a stroke. Finally on Friday they decided to give her a caesarian delivery. She is doing great now, and her and Delfino are happy it's over. The baby was born on the same day as Daniel Lowes’ (Wolf Pack family member) birthday, which made it a special day for Daniel, and he looks so much like his uncle Adam (Wolf Pack family member) so he is a very special little guy!!!! The Wolf Pack family wishes the Delgado family the very best with the new addition.
Wolf Pack WR Matt Bombard gets a call for try-out with the AFL San Jose Sabercats!!!
Wolf Pack WR Matt Bombard received a special call from the San Jose Saber Cats for a tryout in two weeks. Matt is stilled stunned by the invite but is very excited. After talking to the Matt at Tuesday’s practice, he was still excited and was for once at a loss for words. Matt did say that he is very honored to be called and he is ready to represent the Wolf Pack family. Matt is a “very coachable and talented athlete; the coaches love his work ethic” says team owner Ed Silva. The entire Wolf Pack organization wishes Matt the best.
Wolf Pack weekly outing-Dinner at Ludy’s on Main Street at 7 pm
Wolf Pack starts 3-week home game stand starting this Saturday April 5
The Wolf Pack will begin the first of 3 home game stands starting this Saturday against the 1-2 Aptos Mariners. Unlike the Wolf Pack winning the last two games, the Mariners have lost their last two outings. The Wolf Pack won last week; Assistant Head Coach Tony Aiello said that it “was ugly but it was a win.” This Saturday the Wolf Pack will face a team that is looking for its 2nd win. In order for that to happen the Mariners will have to enter the den and face the Wolf Pack and its fans. At the last home game the town came out in force, the Wolf Pack had over 350 fans and this looks to be much of the same. The Wolf Pack is glad to be back home. We are laying the foundation for a great program and with the support of the community it appears we are here to stay. The Wolf Pack looks forward to see the community again and help cheer on the hometown players to VICTORY.
Wolf Pack Remains Perfect on the Road
The Wolf Pack spoiled another team’s home game season opener by beating the Steelers 14 to 12. After a lengthy delay of about 1 hour the game finally started. The delay definitely helped the Steelers since the Wolf Pack traveled about 45 min and waited about 3 hours before the kick off time of 7:30pm. The game started out with controversy as the Steelers had several new players, many without matching game pants and helmets. As the gridiron warriors we are, we still played the game. It was an exciting game; the first quarter was a battle of the defenses. The Wolf Pack tired from warming up then cooling down then starting the game after sitting for about 45 minutes. It took almost the entire game for the Wolf Pack to wake up. The Wolf Pack finally put some points on the board in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. The Steelers fought hard for their first home game, but in the end the Wolf Pack not only out-played but out-coached the Steelers and handed them their 3rd loss in a row.
Wolf Pack (2-1) returns home this Saturday at 2 pm to face the 1-2 Mariners.

Wolf Pack is on the Road again vs Roseville Steelers
For the second week in a row the Wolf Pack will be on the road. After last week’s dominating performance against the Crusaders, the Wolf Pack now looks to put the 0-2 Steelers further into the cellar. The 1-1 Wolf Pack will be taking on the Steelers in Roseville this Saturday at 6:30 pm. The Wolf Pack was very excited to get their first win under their belt. Rodney Earnest, the teams leading rusher, said, “I seen them at the scrimmage and game film, boy I might get 250 yards rushing this game, but what is more important is getting that win.” The Steelers are the second expansion team the Wolf Pack will face, and just like last week the Wolf Pack is poised to make a statement. Team manager Frankie Lopez has said that he has seen a lot of the new teams and “the Wolf Pack is by far to be the best new team in the GCFL.” Well, to make the statement true the Wolf Pack will have to win, and win convincingly. The Wolf Pack has added a new lineman, which will improve the O-line and give the offense more options than the last two outings. The Steelers better have the cleats and helmets on tight as the Wolf Pack prepares to make their presence felt.
Wolf Pack Team Dinner
The line is going to Hooters on Natomas Market Place/Natomas on Friday at 7pm for dinner everyone is welcome to join us.
The Wolf Pack spoils the Crusaders Home Opener
The teams first featured Game of Week by the GCFL both teams needed a win. After the Wolf Pack suffered it’s first lost in week one against the defending champs the Wolf Pack was determined to bounce back and bounce back they did. Head Coach Heath Nunes said that "we are going to play smarter football today" and well they sure did. The Wolf pack started out slow but then the Pack began to act as one and moving the ball at will. The Crusaders fought hard but they could not overcome the Strength of the Pack. Wide receiver Sam Andrade scored 2 TD’s and Mazi Sadiki scored on a 2 point conversion, Curtis Barfield had 2 interceptions, 1 returned for a score and Ricky Rodriquez Jr had 1 INT. The offense scored 5 TD’s which is a good sign the offense is finally starting to click. The final score 40-6, this marks the teams first franchise win. Matt Davis the 6’3” 280 guard said “the offense made one too many mistakes last week, we wanted to fix it or things are going to get real bad real fast.” The Wolf Pack did fix it, cutting penalties almost in half from week one. Saturdays win was a really a team effort as the team motto says the “Strength of the Wolf comes from the Pack”
Next week the Wolf Pack is on the road again to face the 0-2 Roseville Steelers. Game time will be at 1 pm
Wolf Pack travels to Mare Island to take on the Crusaders
The Wolf Pack will be facing the 0-1 Crusaders this Saturday afternoon at 3 pm. After last week loss to the Wolverines the Wolf Pack are anxious to redeem themselves. The Wolf Pack held the Wolverines to just 2 offensive scores but costly mistakes on special team and interceptions cost the Wolf Pack in the end. The team moral is high and are ready to make a very dominate statement on Saturday. Curtis Barfield says that “we did not play the way we practiced but that is all going to change this Saturday, we were bit hard, now we are angry.” The defense will be led by Leonard Nelson, John Sandoval and Curtis Barfield as they plan to storm the Crusaders stronghold.
Wolf Pack Battle in 35-6 Loss To
The Defending Champion Wolverines
In the franchise debut, the Woodland Wolf Pack played hard against the defending champion Wolverines. Keeping the game close, the Wolf Pack defense held the Wolverines offense to one touchdown in the first half, and trailed them by only 8 at half time. In the second half, the Wolverines pulled away to a 35-6 win. The Wolf Pack look to bounce back against the Crusaders next weekend on the road.
